Support Groups run by the Family Support Workers

Prenton Carers Group

Where?– Prenton Resource Centre, 227 Prenton Hall Rd

When?  - 1st Wednesday of every month 6.30 – 9.00 pm

Who is it for? – Carers who come under the Pensby Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) or Wirral Assertive Outreach Service (WAOS) or carers who work during the day.

What goes on? – mutual self-help support, activities

Who runs it ?– Sue Davies FSW supported by Ann Loftus FSW

The Stein Centre Drop-in

Where? – The Stein Centre St Catherine’s Hospital, Church Road, Birkenhead

When? – Last Friday in the month 10 am – 12 noon

Who is it for? – Any carer of someone with a mental health problem

What goes on – mutual support, speakers, activities

Who runs it? – Sue Davies FSW, Ann Loftus FSW  and Rod Elton Carers Project Officer

Early Intervention Team Carers Support Group

Where? – The Stein Centre St Catherine’s Hospital, Church Road, Birkenhead

Who is it for? – Carers who come under the Early Intervention Team

Family Tree Carers Practical Problem Solving Sessions

Where? – Group Room, The Stein Centre St Catherine’s Hospital Birkenhead

When?  - 3rd Wednesday of each month 6.45 – 9 pm (This may occasionally vary – check with the office for exact dates)

Who is it for? – Carers of people with severe mental health problems, usually with symptoms of psychosis

What goes on? – Following requests from carers who have attended previous evening therapy groups these sessions have been re-designed to have a more practical problem solving approach.

Who runs it? – Jan Williams (Occupational Therapist) and  Susan Walshe  (Social Worker)

Support for carers of people with additional problems

 

Wirral Alcohol Service Family and Friends Support Service 

Where? – Wirral Alcohol Service, 25 Hamilton Square, Birkenhead

When? – appointments are made at a convenient time for you

Who is it for? – Family and friends of people with alcohol related problems

What goes on? – Support for people whose lives are affected by someone else’s drinking. Confidential discussions on a one-to-one basis.

Arch Initiative Relatives Support Group

Where? - Arch Initiatives, 23 Conway Street, Birkenhead

When? – Wednesday at 5.50 pm

Who is it for? – family or carers of people who use drugs or alcohol and are residents of Wirral.

What goes on ?– mutual support from group and group support facilitated by counsellor and substance mis-use worker.
