Emergency Card Scheme

Emergancy Card

This scheme has been in operation for some years. Its aim is to give peace of mind to a carer who, while out and about, meets with illness or delay.

Your carers card – with your own unique private reference number – will alert people to the fact that you look after someone, and that your presence will be missed and have consequences.

The person who finds your card will ring the telephone number printed on it , which is a number at the Council’s Housing Department. There they will refer to your form and then put the appropriate cover in place.

The service operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Of course they need to know some information about you, and your caring responsibilities. Contact at the Carers Team if you want to join the scheme, or if your form needs updating. We can send you a form, or, if you’d rather we can ask you the questions over the phone and fill the form in for you.

There’s no charge, either to be registered, or to use the service.

Telephone the Carers Team on 0151 670 0777 or email them for more details.
