Carers Week 2019

National Carers Week 2019 (10th to the 16th June)
What Wirral did to celebrate our 40,000 unpaid Carers

The theme for National Carers Week this year was Getting Carers Connected. The Wired Carers Support Team provide support to Carers and vulnerable groups in our community.
We provide services to ensure Wirral’s 40,000 Carers received information, support and some recognition for the valuable work they do - day in day out. We also delivered our Carer Awareness Information Sessions to professionals in health, ensuring they know how to identify Carers and who to refer them to for help. Please call the Wired Carers Helpline during office hours on 0151670 0777 or email cws@wired.me.uk for further information.

Monday 10th June

Carers Week begins with a Launch Event, this will be in the Birkenhead Pyramids and will be opend by the Wirral Mayor Tony Smith.

Thursday 13th June Chorus For Carers
In order to recognise the tireless work of our local unpaid carers, WIRED are offering a free concert sung by the popular Wallasey Choir and guests. This glittering occasion will take place at 7.30pm at the wonderful Concert Room in Wallasey Town Hall. Refreshments will be available and entrance is free. The concert is open to the whole community and we hope to raise awareness of the tireless efforts of all the carers within our Wirral community.
A raffle will be held
The concert is intended to celebrate the work that Wirral’s unpaid carers make to their local communities and the people they care for. Caring can be a very rewarding but very demanding occupation, and can be taken on by family members, friends or neighbours.. Many carers feel isolated and undervalued by society, so this concert is our way of thanking all the carers who dedicate their lives to the care of others who, without such support, would have to be looked after by

DID YOU KNOW?
More than three million people
juggle care with work, however
the significant demands of
caring mean that 1 in 5 carers
are forced to give up work
altogether

DID YOU KNOW?
Every day another 6,000 people
take on a caring responsibility
– that equals over two million
people each year.

Carers often neglect their own
personal health needs because
of their caring role so this is an
opportunity for you to have some time out for yourself, whether you are a male or a female Carer.
